At SYT, there’s something for everyone, from first graders to high school seniors, from Shakespeare fans to Broadway aficionados, from complete beginners to seasoned stage “veterans.” Our broad-ranging, sequential programming lets students build their skills and expand their performing horizons as they grow in age and expertise.

SYT’s youngest actors get their “feet wet” in the world of theatre by participating in rehearsals that consist of friendly creative exercises and theatre games. Students rehearse twice a week for 1-1/2 hours each for 19 sessions. Rehearsals culminate in performances of children’s theatre titles chosen especially for their age group. Recent titles include: The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, A Christmas Carol and The Velveteen Rabbit!

Munchkin Players (suggested for grades 1-6)

Text Box: Once a young actor reaches 7th grade, he or she may want to participate in a full-length Broadway style musical. The musicals rehearse three days a week for three hours for approximately 36 sessions. Students develop as actors, singers and dancers. As they develop their skills, they can progress from ensemble parts to leading roles. This unforgettable experience introduces them to new friends and new opportunities for learning and development. Examples of past shows include High School Musical, Footloose, Beauty And The Beast and Grease. Text Box: Mainstage Musicals (suggested for grades 7 and up) Text Box: SCC registration fees apply Text Box: Members of the renowned Theatre Touring Company work with top theatre professionals to hone their skills while preparing a touring musical review for public performance that travels throughout Solano County, the Bay Area, and beyond! The ensemble is chosen by audition only and comprised of triple threat students that excel in acting, singing and dancing. Recent performances include The Carnation Plaza Gardens – Disneyland/LA, San Francisco Theatre Festival – Yerba Buena Gardens, Napa Town and Country Fair, and the Solano County Fair. Text Box: This fun and intensive two week workshop provides a wonderful environment and instruction for improving acting, singing and dancing skills and introduces the study of Shakespeare! Students meet five days a week for six hours each day. In the mornings, they receive instruction on drama, music and dance techniques. During the afternoon, they rehearse for the final presentation of one of the abridged masterworks by William Shakespeare incorporating all the skills they have learned.
